It is still much more common and popular to make NFL picks for regular season games, but betting on the NFL Preseason is an option as well. The NFL has shortened the preseason to just three games for each team now as they have made the regular season a week longer.
Every team tends to handle the preseason a bit differently, and the best teams in the league usually rest their starters for most of the exhibition games. That has been the path of the Buffalo Bills, as they are a team that continues to be one of the best teams in the league.
Despite resting most of the top players during the regular season, the Bills were still able to go 2-1 in preseason action in 2022. The final preseason game went poorly for the Bills, but the team got what it needed from its players in the first two weeks.
One nice thing about the NFL Preseason is it is a chance for some of the younger players to show what they can do at the professional level. Buffalo is a franchise that now expects to win, and even the younger players have to live up to those expectations during the regular season.
Here is a look at each of the three preseason games that took place this season.
Bills Beat Colts in Opener
The Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts entered the 2022 season as two teams that were featured as division winners when making NFL expert picks. Buffalo and Indianapolis have both been spending plenty of time in the postseason in the last few seasons, and this looked like a great matchup on paper.
Matt Barkley and Case Keenum handled the quarterback duties for the Bills in this game and both players played exceptionally well. The backup quarterback spot was up for grabs coming into 2022 as the Bill decided to move on from Mitch Trubisky.
Neither quarterback threw a touchdown in the preseason opener, but both quarterbacks did a good job of leading the offense. It was the defense that got the Bills on the scoreboard right away in the first quarter.
Terrel Bernard recovered a fumble early in the game and then took it more than 60 yards for a touchdown. Buffalo would go on to win this game by a score of 27-24 as the teams went back and forth on offense.
Broncos No Match in Week 2
It was announced that Josh Allen would start the Week 2 games for the Bills against the Denver Broncos. Having Allen under center changed the odds for making NFL predictions, and the superstar quarterback wasted no time in making a statement.
Allen went three-for-three on the first drive of the game, and that included a long touchdown pass to Gabriel Davis. Buffalo took a 7-3 lead after the first drive, and the team wouldn’t look back from that point on.
The rushing attack really took control of this game as the Bills racked up four rushing touchdowns after the first quarter. Zack Moss and Duke Johnson both had a pair of rushing touchdowns, and then the defense was able to do the rest.
Denver looked like an absolute mess on both sides of the football, but playing the Bills can do that to any team.
Bills Fail to Score in Week 3
Week 3 of the NFL Preseason was forgettable for the Bills as they were blown out on the road against the Carolina Panthers. The Bills looked like a complete mess for the entire game, as they just couldn’t get anything going on offense.
Buffalo had less than 200 yards of total offense in this one, and it was pretty clear that the team was simply looking forward to getting the season going. The defense also had a bad day in this one, but most of the top stars from that unit did not see action in this game.
Carolina also had a big advantage as they had starting quarterback Baker Mayfield in this game for a large chunk, and he sparked that offense.
