Industrial Heating Elements, otherwise known as industrial heaters, is mechanical equipment used for the production of heat by means of heat exchanges, combustion, or direct-vent operation. Industrial Heating Elements has wide applications in various sectors like petrochemical plants, powerhouses, petroleum refineries, chemical plants, food processing factories and automotive manufacturing. Heat exchangers, for instance, are used in chemical plants to convert liquid chemicals into gas form by the introduction of heat. Heat Exchangers, also called chillers, are used in powerhouses for the purpose of heating water or air for combustion in engines. Industrial heater manufacturers of refrigeration, diesel engines, petrol engines, gasoline, and oil refineries are also used in the manufacturing process.

What is a heating element?

The heating elements are those converting electrical energy into heat through resistors known as Joule heating. The electric current passing through the part encounters resistance, which produces heat.

Typically, heating elements consist of a coil, ribbon, or wire strip that renders heat. Heating elements comprise an electric current, which flows within the coil, wire, or ribbon and grows very hot. The element transforms the electrical energy crossing through it into heat, which generates outward in all possible directions.

Industrial Heating Elements is used in large industrial plants with a number of machines or industrial processes requiring heat to operate properly. They can be electrical motors such as induction heating units, boilers, furnace heat exchangers, gas turbines, oil furnaces, water heaters, diesel furnaces, and many others. Industrial heat exchangers are made up of several copper components, such as the core, bus, and shell; the elements are built up in multiple stages, resulting in a smooth-functioning element.

What is an industrial heater?

An industrial heater consists of a copper shaft or rod with alternating layers of insulation, which is heated electrically. Industrial air heaters generally have a single rod or shaft, although they can be multi-row or multi-level. Some of the different types of air heaters include oil-filled, oil-free, and dehumidifiers. Oil-filled heaters comprise a tank that contains oil that is heated, and an air handler replaces the air. Oil-free heaters use an oil tank instead, but they use no air and do not require any special cleaning.

One should select an appropriate heating element based on its performance specifications. The dimensions and external factors must be considered when selecting the right heating element. Should check all elements to make sure they are operating properly. All necessary parts, such as terminals and fittings, should be replaced if defective.

How does a heating element work?

Heating elements help turn electricity into heat. However, to understand how a heating element works, we must retain some basic electricity teachings.

First, conductors are excellent conveyors of electricity. Conversely, insulators are poor conveyors of electricity. Both conductors and insulators contribute resistance to electric currents that pass through them, although in distinctive amounts. Conductors offer low resistance, while insulators propose a high level of resistance. 

Industrial Heating Elements – Importance

One can understand the importance of industrial heating from the fact that a worker in a metal plant, say, for instance, will require a heater in order to keep warm, and this heater will be one of the most costly components of the entire system. If the workers are not careful, it might get damaged or even cease to function. For this reason, the system should be maintained well, including having the right number of elements, their correct kind, capacity, and quality, etc. This maintenance is very important, and it should not be left until the problem becomes acute.
